Dr Leibman is a general surgeon with an interest in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric (weight loss) surgery on the lower North Shore. He completed his medical degree at UNSW and his surgical fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2002.
His areas of surgical interest include surgery for gallstone disease, hernias, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hiatus hernia surgery, robotic surgery, and surgery for oesophageal and gastric cancer. He also performs a range of laparoscopic weight loss operations including sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass, and has run a comprehensive weight loss clinic for over 15 years.
Dr Leibman is associated with the University of Sydney and has a teaching role at Royal North Shore Hospital. He trains medical students, junior doctors, surgeons in training, and post fellowship surgical fellows. He works publicly at Royal North Shore Hospital and in private practice at North Shore Private Hospital.
Common conditions that Dr Leibman manages include hernias, gallstones, lipomas, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), stomach and oesophageal cancer and obesity through weight loss surgery.
