Dr Stephen Vernon is a cardiologist with an interest in interventional cardiology. He is a Staff Specialist Cardiologist at Royal North Shore Hospital, a VMO at North Shore Private Hospital, and participates in the primary PCI roster for the campus. He graduated from the University of Sydney with degrees in Medicine and Medical Science, before completing pre-vocational training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and physician and interventional cardiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.
Dr Vernon has skills in coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, CT coronary angiography, echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. He consults in all aspects of cardiology including: coronary artery disease, cardiovascular risk assessment, valvular heart disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias.
In addition to his clinical role, Dr Vernon is an active clinician researcher and medical educator. His PhD studies investigated clinical outcomes of heart attack patients without traditional risk factors and novel biomarkers of coronary artery disease.
